Ethiopia Swears in First Ever Female Chief Justice

Ethiopia has continued to make history swearing in the country’s first ever Chief Justice in Meaza Ashenafi. This comes just a week after they swore in their first ever female President, Salhe-Work Zewde.

Ethiopia, which overtook Kenya as East Africa’s biggest economy in 2016 and one of Africa’s fastest growing is clearly leading the way in Africa and beyond.

The East African country has moved quickly in implementing a government with gender parity led by new Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. The 42 year old who is Africa’s youngest has also appointed a cabinet that is 50% female.
