An iconic photo showing a Palestinian protester with sling shot in one hand and the Palestinian flag in the other evokes the most ironic of images of a David versus Goliath.

The protester, 20 year old A’ed Abu Amro of al-Zaytoun in Gaza said that he protests twice a week o Mondays and Fridays with friends. Abu Amro’s picture drew comparisons of Eugenie Delacroix’s similarly iconic French Revolution painting of Liberty Leading the People.

Abu Amro said he’s gotten used to protesting with the flag adding “If I get killed, I want to be wrapped in the same flag” according to Al Jazeera.

The image which has gone viral for its aesthetic qualities is a reminder of the superficial era of the social media age and how much news is going neglected in the fast paced news cycles. Along the same lines its a reminder of just how much air is sucked out of the room with coverage of the constant scandals swirling around the 45th president of the United States!
