Stacey Abrams

Voter Suppression in the United States
In Georgia, where Stacey Abrams is running to be the first ever female African American governor in the country (yes in 2018), Brian Kemp, the current Secretary of State has been sued for multiple measures that have resulted in what appears to be the disenfranchisement of close to a million voters in that state; a huge number by any measure!

Civil Rights groups are decrying the recent Supreme Court ruling that will likely make it harder for Native Americans to vote in North Dakota, where Heidi Heitkamp’s is running for re-election to the senate in a race that could determine control of the senate after the 2018 mid terms.

In a rare move for an African country, Ethiopia has revoked land leases for over 95 large investors including Ethiopian born Saudi billionaire Mohammed Hussein al-Amoudi. This follows the announcement by Soouth African president Cyril Ramaphosa that South Africa would be expropriating formerly stolen land for distribution to its rightful original owners, the South African people. This was followed in short order by a similar announcement by Namibian President Hage Geingob that i would follow suit and change the Constitution to allow the return of Namibia land to the Namibian people. these are measures that are long overdue.

Canada Weed
Legal Weed in Canada
Oh Canada… puff puff pass.. Weed is now universally legal all across Canada. Our North American neighbor became the second country after Uruguay to fully legalize recreational use of marijuana.

Below is a guide to weed buying in Canada (for Canadians)
Here’s what you need to know…

Be aware when crossing the border that customs and border protection is a federal agency and will treat you as a criminal if you have indulged or are found in possession, even in states along the border that have legalized weed such as Washington and Vermont.

The army in Myanmar created fake facebook pages to target Rohingya muslims for genocide, following the Russian playbook which worked so well for them in the 2016 US election.

Jamal Kashoggi
The Turkish government has been very proactive in revealing details about the investigation into the likely murder of Saudi journalist, and US permanent resident, Jamal Kashoggi. New details continue to pour in and seem to close in closer and closer to the inner circle of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. is it possible that these events could lead to the demotion of the popular Saudi heir to the throne? Seems unlikely for now, but not unheard of in the Arabian Kingdom where the line of succession is not as strictly defined as say in the UK.

Mary Bono Out
Mary Bono, was only four days on the job before she was forced to resign as acting CEO of USA Gymnastics over her politicized post seeming to criticize the Nike Kaepernick campaign. Simone Biles, the star US Olympic gymnast had expressed her displeasure at Mary Bono’s tweet.
